Carbon monetization & EACs

What environmental attribute certificates (EACs) are, how disposition work creates verified carbon value, and how to opt in to carbon monetization with Layer IQ.

Every asset you keep out of landfill has a carbon story. Increasingly, there's

a market that pays for it — and disposition partners are sitting on more of

that value than almost anyone.

What's an EAC?

An environmental attribute certificate (EAC) is a verified, tradeable

instrument representing the environmental benefit of an action — in this case,

the emissions avoided when IT equipment is reused, refurbished, or responsibly

recycled instead of being landfilled or replaced with new manufacturing.

EACs created through Layer IQ are built on independently verified methodology,

with the sourcing and documentation an auditor expects. Each certificate

carries full provenance: which assets, which disposition decisions, which data

sources, and the IQ Score behind every input.

Why this matters for disposition partners

You're already doing the work that creates this value. Processing assets for

reuse and recovery avoids real emissions — and until now, that benefit went

unmeasured and unmonetized. Layer IQ captures it from your existing operations:

  • No change to your floor process — the data comes from disposition decisions you're already recording

  • Audit-ready documentation generated alongside each certificate

  • Full transparency: every certificate's inputs are traceable, down to the individual asset

How to get started

Carbon monetization is available as an opt-in program. If you'd like to

understand what your current operations could generate, reach out through the

Messenger or email [email protected] and we'll walk you through it.

The bigger picture

Sustainability regulation is pushing enterprises to measure and reduce the

footprint of their IT estates. That demand flows directly to the partners who

handle disposition — which means verified carbon data isn't just a revenue

stream; it's becoming part of how enterprises choose who to work with.
